PURPOSE VS. PERSONAL BRANDING

I began my pursuit for purpose while at the tertiary institution. I was hungry to live a life of purpose and influence, I began reading books, watched videos, listened to audios, I was open to learning, I attended various meeting, I asked myself series of questions and most importantly ,I prayed. I wanted to find purpose, I desire to know why I'm here on earth and the path I should thread. I understood that I am not called to do everything but there is a specific thing I need to do. 

Now that I  have a clear definition of what I want to do and the path I want to play, I discovered that I wasn't satisfied, I began to ask myself: How will I communicate this message in my heart? How do I share this burden? How do I do this?  How do I do that? Then it done on me that beyond discovery of purpose, there is a need for branding, there is still a process of grooming I need to go through if indeed my voice will be heard. 

I took a step further to do a background check on those who are living the future I picture, I understood from them that there is a way you brand yourself and ideas in order to reach out and be heard. 

You may say what role does PERSONAL BRANDING plays? Let me say this;  "Purpose gives you focus but personal branding grants you access" I hope that registers in your mind.

Your personal branding gives your audience the chance to pay attention to you. 

Imagine you have the opportunity to choose between two restaurants one is well furnished, good environment, attractive and good customer service and another with just a plank to sit on, the environment is not well kept, which will you go for? 

I know the answer, off course you will go for the first. We love when we are treated with respect and given so much attention. The second restaurant's food might taste good than the first, still you would prefer it. 

That's what personal branding does. 

Beyond the discovery, take a journey towards personal branding. 

I am an advocate of purpose but beyond that, you need to properly brand yourself and ideas if indeed you want to be on the list of successful people.

The second half of the year for me is a journey to productivity.
